Fairfax Road Site

Fairfax is the smaller of the two RTDGS sites (1.64 hectares), with 85 plots, over two-thirds of which are half plots. Many plots have sheds and there is a wide variety of trees across the allotments. Entry to the site is either from Coldham’s Lane or from Fairfax Road.
The site is arranged with an almost equal number of plots on either side of a central grassy pathway, and an entry gate at either end. Water troughs are placed at regular points along this path, so every plot is only a short distance from water. There is also a drinking water tap located at the central point on the path. However, we encourage rainwater collection and cultivation practices that minimise the need for water, a scarce and expensive resource in Cambridge. The site has a Wild Nature Reserve and a Community Orchard is being developed.
The RTDGS shop, open for an hour a day on Saturday and Sunday, is on the Stourbridge Grove site, a short walk across Coldham’s Lane. It is stocked with a good range of useful items, such as compost, fleece, weed control fabric, fertilisers, canes, netting, etc.
