Welcome to The Romsey Town and District Gardening Society.

 

The Romsey Town and District Gardening Society (RTDGS) is made up of two different but affiliated allotment sites. Stourbridge Grove Allotments and Fairfax Road Allotments are in the Romsey Town area of south Cambridge, located on either side of Coldham’s Lane (the Fairfax site also has an entrance on Fairfax Road). Residents of the CB1postcode have long enjoyed the opportunities offered by the allotment plots for fresh air and the space for growing flowers and vegetables, while enjoying the friendly community atmosphere. This was especially beneficial during the recent COVID19 lockdown.

 

There are water troughs and access to drinking water on both sites. Our allotment shop, situated near the entrance of the Stourbridge Grove site, provides competitively priced allotment goods from spring to autumn, and several other services.

The allotment holders are a genuinely friendly bunch, and you can always find someone ready to offer advice or help. We run occasional working parties, organised to improve certain aspects of the sites, and there are also social gatherings, such as the traditional Wassail celebrations at the Stourbridge Community Orchard.

Though we’re on land leased from Cambridge City Council, the sites are managed and run entirely by a volunteer committee made up of current plot holders from either, or both, sites.
